You can't miss the Washington Monument when staying in short term housing Washington DC

The Washington Monument is an obelisk on the National Mall in Washington D.C., built to commemorate George Washington. The construction started in 1848 and was finally completed in 1884 after many delays. While staying in short term housing Washington D.C., this towering monument cannot be missed on the National Mall. The National Park Service had closed the monument due to structural disaster from  a 2011earthquake and Hurricane Irene. It has now been reopened with improvements for visitors to go to the top. http://washington.org/DC-guide-to/national-mall
