Attend the re-opening of the Washington Monument when you are living in corporate housing in May. A re-opening ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Al Roker, the TODAY show’s weather anchor, will serve as master of ceremonies and musical performances will be given by American Idol Season 12 winner Candice Glover, the Old Guard Fife & Drum Corps, the United States Navy Band, and the Boy and Girl Choristers of Washington National Cathedral Choir. The Monument has been closed since August 23, 2011, due to damage received in a 5.8 magnitude earthquake. Because of the closure, the Monument will begin extended operating hours on May 12 and will be open from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. through the end of summer.
