Easy Recipe for Homemade Jelly

We hope your week in going fantastic, and you are looking forward to the holiday season. It's hard to believe how fast it has come upon us! This morning, we wanted to share with you a delightful recipe to make mouth watering homemade jelly. You can substitute any kind of juice that you like. You can also leave in the skins (if using fresh grapes), or pieces of fruit if you prefer to make jam. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll find it is very easy, and it just takes a little bit of your time. The rewards are so worth it, and they make great gifts. Here’s the recipe:

5 cups grape juice (approximately 5lbs. of fruit or 16 cups)
 7 cups sugar
1 packet of Fruit Pectin Liquid
 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
 Yield: 7 (8 oz. jars)

Bring grapes to slow boil and press grapes with a mashed potato masher until juice comes out. Put mixture into a fine strainer and press all juice out. Put juice back in the pot; add sugar, pectin and lemon juice. Bring to boil for 1 minute- or until desired thickness is reached, skim off foam with a ladle. Ladle jelly into sterilized jars (boil jars/lids/jar rings) for 10 minutes or run through dishwasher cycle) using a wide mouth funnel, cover with lids and slightly hand tighten with jar rings. Put jars into pot with boiling water 2” above lids and boil as per standard canning procedures. Remove from water and let cool. Lids should pop as they cool to confirm they have all sealed. You can then unscrew the jar rings slightly and the lids will stay.
