Washington D.C. Labor Day Event

Still haven't decided what to do this Labor Day? The National Symphony Orchestra performs a free Labor Day Concert on the West Lawn of the U. S. Capitol each year, the Sunday before Labor Day. The annual concert is led by Principal Pops Conductor Steven Reineke and the event is part of the Kennedy Center's Prelude Festival, which includes free performances to kickoff the performing arts season in Washington, DC. This year's theme is Americana. Works by composers from the United States, as well as symphonic works that have come to be associated with specific parts of the country, will be performed, such as Rossini's Overture to William Tell, which many will remember as the theme music for The Lone Ranger. Happpy Labor Day!
