National Portrait Gallery Great Stop While Living In DC Corporate Housing

While living in DC corporate housing for a few months you will no doubt see numerous historic buildings, monuments and landmarks.  Be sure to visit the Smithsonian Institute several times.  On one of those visits tour the National Portrait Gallery.  The gallery chronicles the history of America in portraits, sculptures and paintings of those who helped shape our country.  Admission is free and the museum is open everyday except Christmas Day each  year.  There are special exhibits that you may be interested in and the website  provides information on them.  Outside of the White House, the museum has the only complete collection of presidential portraits.  This alone is worth the visit.  It's worth mentioning that The Portrait Gallery and the American Art Museum are two different museums within the same building.  During the weekdays you can join a free guided tour at three different time during the day.  The website provides times and any changes in schedule.
