Postal Museum a Hit When Living In Military Housing In Washington DC

Do you love stamp collecting or the history of the US mail service?  You may now realize how dangerous and exciting it used to be.  This overlooked and under appreciated historical site is loaded with amazing facts about our fearless early carriers. The National Postal Museum is really an amazing collection of stamps, art and history.  This month while you are staying in DC in military housing featured exhibits include Postal Inspectors: The Silent Service.  Coming March 6th through January 2015 is a new exhibit called Pacific Exchange: China & US Mail.  This examines the relationship between our countries by following the mail.  You may decided to join the rank of the many stamp collectors around the world.  Did you know that Charlie Chaplin, John Lennon and Ameila Earhart were collectors?  There are  more than 10 permanent exhibits at the museum,  and special exhibits are featured all year. One of the most popular and moving exhibits is that of wartime letters to and from soldiers serving on the front lines.

After your visit go online to the Postmaster's Challenge and see how you score in this fun trivia game.   The Activity Zone page on the website has some great interactive programs that you and your kids will love.   If your kids need a unique topic for a school report, this would be a great one!
